CREATE A STRIKING BABY LAYOUT TO CHERISH FOREVER!

CREATE A STRIKING BABY LAYOUT TO CHERISH FOREVER!

Posted by Olivia Sum on

Are you looking for creative scrapbooking ideas for babies?  Are you contemplating between using a baby scrapbooking kit and designing your own scrapbook?

These ideas will help you create beautiful baby scrapbook layouts that can be housed in a baby album that you purchase or you can even create a digital scrapbook and download the great digital designs available. There is a perfect design for this called digital chalkboard art and is unique to its name.

SELECT YOUR PHOTOS AND THEMES

Before creating each baby scrapbook layout, decide what you want to include in your album.

Unlike a regular photo album that is page after page filled with photos, a scrapbook album contains one to four photos per page and is enhanced with journal writing and embellishments.  So out of the dozens of baby pictures, you need to select the photos that are most meaningful to you.  As you go through your photos, here are some themes to consider:

  • Pregnancy photos (3 months, 6 months, 9 months)
  • Ultrasound
  • Baby shower
  • Arrival of baby (hospital photos of baby with mom and dad)
  • Baby’s arrival home
  • Baby with family (siblings, grandparents, etc.)
  • Baby’s room
  • Baby’s first (smile, crawl, giggle, bath, toy, food, word, etc.)

DECIDE ON BABY SCRAPBOOK LAYOUTS

Once you know which photos and themes you have in mind, begin to plan your layouts.

Visit any craft store and you’ll discover lots of themed scrapbooking ideas for babies…teddy bears, pink ribbons, blue “It’s a boy”, baby shoes, and so much more!

Choose background paper for each of your themes.  Also, gather the baby congratulation cards, gift wrap and gift bags that you received.  Rather than tossing these into a box and tucking it away somewhere, use the pictures, messages and die-cuts as embellishments for your baby album!  Some of the gift wrap or large gift bags can be trimmed and used as background paper.  This will make your album that much more special.

SOME VERY SPECIAL LAYOUT IDEAS FOR YOUR BABY

  1. PREGNANCY PHOTOS

Use three photos taken of the mom-to-be at a side view.  Create one horizontal mat with three panels and place it so that the bottom of the mat is in the middle of the page.  Above the photos, use die-cut letters and spell M-O-M-M-Y.

Underneath the photos try to journal your thoughts about having a baby.  Purchase or make your own pregnancy quotes, such as “For now in mommy’s tummy, forever in her heart” or “A baby is a gift from God”.   Use the quotes as a border around the top and bottom part of the photo mat.  Embellish the page with a few heart shaped confetti pieces

  1. ULTRASOUND PHOTO

Either free hand or download the silhouette of a pregnant woman.  Add your ultrasound photo to the belly of the silhouette.  Explain how it feels having a little one growing inside of you.

  1. BABY’S ARRIVAL

You might want to use a couple of pages for showcasing your baby’s arrival.  On the first page, use a black and white 5×7 photo of your new-born.  Place the photo in the upper left corner.  Accent the photo with a colour ribbon (pink for a girl, blue for a boy).  Include two smaller photos–a close up of the baby’s foot and a close up of the baby’s hand.  Place these photos in the bottom right corner.  Next to the large picture, put “Welcome Baby _______”.  Explain about your baby’s arrival, including place, time, weight, height and who was present.  Include your baby’s ID bracelet.

Design a second page with hospital photos of baby with mom and dad.  Enhance the page with some of the sayings and photos from the congratulations cards.

Chances are once your baby becomes a toddler, his or her baby room will be converted into a toddler’s room.  Be sure to include a page or two of baby enjoying his/her room.  If you have extra wallpaper or border, use it as the background for your scrapbooking page.  For example, if your baby’s room has a teddy bear theme with green and white stripes, use leftover green and white stripes for your background.  Use a large cut-out teddy bear to hold a photo of your sleeping photo.  Include smaller photos of the furniture in the room.

Being able to witness a baby’s first, whether it’s the first smile, the first bath, or the first time tasting baby food, is such a precious time.  Try to capture a few of these “firsts” as you put together scrapbook ideas for babies.
